RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
The St. Joan of Arc Religious Education program aims to provide Sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, and Sacramental initiation for older children.
Children in public schools, private schools and the neighbouring Catholic schools are welcomed into the program each year.
The program relies solely on volunteer catechists. Should you be interested in volunteering, we welcome your support! Please send an email to religioused@joanofarc.ca with a copy of your resume.
Classes take place in the church building on a weekly basis during the program length. Please review the specific sacramental offerings below for more information on each of the programs offered.
Registration for all programs is held in September, with a class start date in October.
R.C.I.A. - Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
R.C.I.A. - Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults / Adult Scripture Study
Each year adults approach the Parish enquiring about the Roman Catholic faith. Each week we are companions to them as they explore what faith is. We encourage them as we listen to their questions, we read and discuss various topics, pray together and reflect. Classes are offered in conjunction with Adult Scripture Study program to provide adult education to ALL adults who are interested in learning Scripture from a Catholic perspective.
R.C.I.C. - Rite of Christian Initiation of Children
This program is provided for older children (above the age of eight) who would like to receive Sacraments, including Baptism, First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and sometimes even Confirmation, depending on their age when they start.
This program is a personal study program tailored to the needs of the specific child. Enrolment in this program requires a discussion with the Religious Education Program Coordinator to determine needs and set up the required education.
